FCC Proposes To Eliminate Broadcast Mid-Term Report Filing Requirement

The FCC is proposing to eliminate the Broadcast Mid-Term filing requirement and instead rely on publicly available information in its periodic reviews of broadcaster employment practices. Nearly all the information in Form 397, such as the name of a station official with responsibility for compliance with the Commission’s EEO rules and copies of a station’s annual public file reports, is also available in stations’ public inspection files. The Media Bureau temporarily waives the deadline for ancillary or supplementary services during 3Q 2017

The FCC says pending final action on the Commission’s proposal to eliminate that reporting obligation, waiver of the upcoming deadline for such stations to file the form serves the public interest by temporarily relieving them of a regulatory burden that the Commission has tentatively concluded is unnecessary. W10BM Part II: Station tells its side of the story in filed documents, asks for reinstatement

W10BM has attached an August 2004 credit card statement that shows a payment to the FCC for a total of $1125. Also attached is a screenshot at an attempted renewal in May of 2004 in the sometimes-confusing CDBS Electronic Filing System. The documents also show that the renewal letter was sent to an incorrect address in a different town. Continue reading
