LPTV stations have until 2021 to complete their digital transition, according to the Incentive Auction Closing and Channel Reassignment Public Notice, released 13 April.
The FCC extended the deadline for analog LPTV and TV translator stations to complete their transition to digital from September 1, 2015 to 12 months after the completion of the 39- month transition period.
The FCC says this action will prevent LPTV and TV translator stations from spending large sums of money on new digital facilities before knowing whether the station would be displaced by the auction repacking process.
Given the July 13, 2020 end of the 39-month broadcast transition period, LPTV and TV translators will have until July 13, 2021 to complete their digital transition
